ChurchMilitant.com reports that Italian reporter Eugenio Scalfari, who has frequently interviewed Pope Francis, has alleged in a recent interview in the Italian magazine La Repubblica that Pope Francis has denied the divinity of Christ during the Incarnation:
Mr. Scalfari continues:
In response to Eugenio Scalfari’s interview with Pope Francis, the Holy See Press Office has issued the following statement:
Events and scandals keep unfolding so rapidly that my plans for articles and transcriptions have to be adjusted accordingly. The breaking news reported above shows how massive the current crisis is and how pervasive the diabolical disorientation has become. We must be very careful in how we react to such news. While we cannot peer into the Pope’s mind and heart, it is nearly impossible to not question why he would keep granting interviews to Mr. Eugenio Scalfari if he is truly being misquoted. Just last year Eugenio Scalfari had said that the Pope had told him in an interview that bad souls are annihilated, which of course is a belief that contradicts the perennial teaching of the Church about Hell. Then, as is the case so far in this new controversial interview, the Vatican failed to clearly deny that the Pope had made such errant remarks. In both cases, the Holy See Press Office merely mentioned that Eugenio Scalfari is elderly and that due to his method of reconstructing interviews from memory, his accounts cannot be considered “faithful” but they are his personal interpretation of what was discussed. Once again the Holy See Press Office has failed to explicitly deny that Pope Francis had communicated this heresy and they have failed to expressly reiterate that Pope Francis believes and professes that Christ is True God and True Man as is taught and understood by the doctrine of the hypostatic union.
To deny Christ’s divinity during the Incarnation is heresy and more specifically it calls to mind the great Arian heresy and crisis. Many Catholics are asking why the Pope hasn’t immediately rejected Eugenio Scalfari’s representation of what was discussed in the interview. Many Catholics are shocked, saddened, scandalized, and confused by these events. Catholics are begging and praying for clarity. To compound this sorrowful story is the fact that it’s taking place during the highly controversial Amazonian Synod. The opening day of the Amazonian Synod brought with it reports of a pagan ceremony on Vatican grounds and again in that scenario, the Vatican has failed to explicitly deny that it was a pagan ceremony. The Amazonian Synod’s working document contains serious theological errors and heresies as was pointed out by Cardinal Burke, Bishop Athanasius Schneider and others. On top of all of this, the Pope has recently said in an interview that he doesn’t fear schism.
I mention all of this because the Pope’s recently published interview with Eugenio Scalfari didn’t take place in a bubble. All of these things should be looked at as being part of a larger picture. While we cannot know exactly what Pope Francis said to Eugenio Scalfari and while it is impossible for us to know his thoughts and intentions, we ought to consider the big picture. What’s the big picture here? Well the big picture is that we can speculate on how the Devil wishes to take advantage of these scandals.
Make no mistake about it, the Devil has a diabolical agenda. The Ancient Serpent is a masterful chess player and he is far more intelligent and cunning than any man on earth today. The Devil and his demons traffic in confusion, discord and despair. The Devil doesn’t care how he separates you from the Church, just so long as he does successfully separate you from the Catholic Church, the Ark of Salvation. The Devil hates mankind. Now, with this in mind, how might the Devil use this current news to satisfy his fiendish desires?
The Devil is in the details. The Devil knows the rules established by Christ in His Church and the Devil can and will exploit those rules to suit his diabolical agenda. Fr. Ripperger and other exorcists have stated that the Devil and his demons are legalists. With this in mind, might it not be the case that the Devil, seeing that the possibility of schism is openly being discussed in the Church, would try to manipulate faithful Catholics to separate themselves from the Church? How might he implement this plan? Satan might show that the Pope spoke a clear heresy in an interview (an interview whose content is impossible to confirm or deny) and the Devil might do this so that Catholics who love the Church will separate themselves from the Church through schism.
The Devil knows that people are intrigued by scandal, he knows how to seduce us better than any man or woman can seduce another person. The Devil knows that a Pope cannot be deposed by any earthly power and that if a Pope were to depose himself through manifest obstinate heresy after being formally corrected that even then the Ecclesiastical authorities would have to inform us that the Pope deposed himself. With this in mind the Devil would attempt to give the appearance that the Pope has committed a terrible heresy, while in reality there is no official documentation or any way to confirm that such a sorrowful event had really taken place. Uncertainty is the Devil’s calling card. He wants to make us uncertain so that he can sweep us away from Christ and His Church. The Devil wants to use our passion for Christ and His Church against us in a way in which our passions will carry us away into the raging waters of certain death outside the Ark of the Catholic Church. The Devil wants us to usurp ecclesiastical authority as he tempts each of us faithful Catholics to become sedevacantists. The Devil wants to tempt us into schism so that he can try to destroy the Church from within by seducing his greatest earthly adversaries (traditional and orthodox Catholics) to abandon Holy Mother Church.
Therefore we must be prudent. We must not declare that Pope Francis has lost office because we lack the authority to make such a declaration. We must be obedient to the teachings of the Church. We must be humble and accept that we will not fix the Church ourselves nor will we force Christ to purify His Church according to our plans and timelines. We must believe Christ’s promise that He will be with us even until the consummation of the world and that the gates of Hell will not prevail against His Church. We must truly believe that Christ is in control and that He can purify the Church in an instant. We must beg for an increase in the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity. Lastly we ought to beg The Virgin Most Powerful to wrap us under the protection of Her Heavenly Mantle.
