Prayer Crusade For The Purification of the Church

Christus Vincit! Christus Regnat! Christus Imperat!

Cardinal Burke and Bishop Athanasius Schneider have announced a crusade of prayer and fasting for 40 days from September 17th to October 26th. These faithful Shepherds propose that laity and clergy pray daily at least one decade of the holy rosary and to fast one day a week for the intention of preventing the approval of serious theological errors and heresies. This call to spiritual warfare by these Princes of the Church in defense of the Church has inspired the websites Virgo Potens and The Swords of St. Michael to unite in an effort to promote this holy crusade of prayer and fasting as well as suggesting additional spiritual weapons to fight this spiritual battle. Michael or as it is transliterated from the Hebrew, Mîkhā'ēl, means “Who is like God?” In Latin this sentence is rendered “Quis ut Deus?” When Lucifer led the bad angels in revolting against God, it was St. Michael who cried aloud “Who is like unto God?” If men rebel against the perennial teachings and doctrines of the Church, let us follow St. Michael’s lead as we cry out, “Quis ut Deus?” “Who is like God?” This humility, along with obedience to God opens us up to become receptive to God’s grace. The Holy Mother of God is perfectly humble and the Lord has crowned Her the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Virgo Potens (The Virgin Most Powerful) crushes the head of the Ancient Serpent. Each day we ought to call upon the intercession of Virgo Potens and St. Michael to purify the Church.

Unite the clans! Consider joining Virgo Potens & The Swords of St. Michael in adding the following spiritual weapons to your arsenal in defense of Holy Mother Church with the intention of the purification of the Church:

  • Rosary (daily)

  • Fasting & Abstinence on Wednesdays and Fridays: If you’re already fasting one day a week, consider fasting a second day. Friday has traditionally been a penitential day of abstinence. There is also a long tradition within the Church of Fasting on both Fridays and Wednesdays.

  • St. Michael prayer (daily)

  • Litany of Loreto (daily)

  • Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ (daily)

The Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:

and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.
